Indianapolis Junior Golf Foundation

Thatcher Golf Course is home to The Indianapolis Junior Golf Foundation, which was founded in 1988 as a program designed to teach young children the game of golf. In 2000 a tournament series was added. Our mission statement is developing character, honesty and integrity through golf.

The Indianapolis Junior Golf Foundation begins its season by offering free golf lessons to children ages 6-11 years of age. We also offer rules and etiquette clinics so that the children can learn the rules of the game and how to conduct themselves on the course. Our tournament series begins in June and plays through July. We offer tournaments for children ages 6-19 years old. Both male and female divisions are offered. The kids ages 6-7 play 3-hole tournaments, the 8-9 year old play 6-holes and the 10-11 play 9-hole tournaments. The older children ages 12-13, 14-15 and 16-19 all play 18-hole tournaments.
